Overnight Respite
Main Street Community Services provides 3 unique developmental respite homes (a home away from home) for children between the ages of 5-18 with special needs. The goal is to provide parents with a much needed break from their child. Respite, as the word implies, is truly an interval of rest. Our goal is support renewed energies and a new perspective for families. In a safe and nurturing home environment, children will have the opportunity to grow emotionally, socially and cognitively. More specifically, our program will include a therapeutic component designed to develop proficiency in:communication, play behaviour (including independent, spontaneous, and social components), as well as decrease challenging behaviours and increasing tolerance for sensory stimuli. Our program can also include an extended respite program where children can be provided respite for longer periods of time. During this longer term stay, an individual treatment plan will be designed and implemented. An integration plan will also be designed for the child and families for re-integration back to the family home.
