This generous donation of summer activities and gear comes from Gillian Sims and Sandy Villeneuve Elson of the Gillian Sims Insurance Agency Inc. (Desjardins Insurance). The items—which include fishing gear, sand and water toys, bubble machines, and s’more kits—were donated to support our clients at Main Street Community Services as they head into their summer camp experiences. Driven by a desire to bring joy to the individuals supported by the organization, Gillian and Sandy coordinated the donation to ensure the participants have plenty of fun, safe, and engaging activities to look forward to during their camp outings in September.
We’re excited to share some great news and extend our gratitude for a recent community partnership that has had a big impact!
Thanks to the strong relationship formed during our Angel Tree project, Danielle Rodgers from the Stittsville Giant Tiger (GT) store reached out to Jodie with an opportunity to support us through a community fundraiser. Tasked with creating and running a charitable initiative, Danielle immediately thought of Main Street.
Throughout the month of May, Giant Tiger ran a point-of-sale voluntary donation campaign where cashiers actively promoted our clients and organization. Posters with QR codes (thank you, Todd!) were displayed throughout the store and at each register to help spread the word.
The result? The generous customers and community of Stittsville donated $1,500 in support of our organization!
In addition to the funds raised, GT went the extra mile by donating loot bags filled with summer fun items—sunglasses, frisbees, slinkies, beach balls, crowns, and more—for all of our clients to enjoy as they kick off their summer holidays.
The donation and gifts were presented to us during a classic GIANT cheque presentation (see photo!), and the items have since been distributed to everyone.
The team at Giant Tiger Stittsville continues to show incredible support, compassion, and genuine interest in enhancing the lives of our clients.
